Your first AI app: start with the leak, not the moonshot

The best first AI project is the boring one that loses you money every week. Here is how to find it.

Owners often ask where to start with AI. The answer is almost never the grand vision. It is the leak: the place where revenue or time drains out of the business every week, quietly, because nobody has the bandwidth to plug it.

Common leaks

  • Missed calls. A trade business on a job site cannot answer. Many callers do not leave a voicemail; they call the next company.
  • Unchased quotes. Estimates go out and nobody follows up. A share of those would close with one reminder.
  • Slow lead response. A real-estate or legal lead that waits an hour has often already talked to someone else.
  • Missing documents. CPA and law firms lose days chasing clients for paperwork.
  • No review request. Happy customers leave without being asked, so the reviews come mostly from unhappy ones.

A simple test

Pick the leak where you can answer three questions: How often does it happen? What is one instance worth? Would you know within 30 days if it was fixed? If you can answer all three, that is your first app.

Build it small, then stack

With sup3rapp, your first app might be Missed Call Rescue, Quote Follow-Up or a Document Collection Portal. Get it live, watch the number move, then add the next app. Owners who start this way tend to have three or four apps running within a quarter, and each one is fitted to how their business actually works.
